'Rice wreaths' indicate that K-Pop fandoms are becoming more mature

These days, Korean fandoms send 'rice wreaths' instead of customary flower bouquets to a celebrity's event (concert, musical, or press conference) in order to show their support for their favorite stars. At first, these rice wreaths were created to simply convey a message like, "I'm cheering for you", "Congratulations", and "I pray for your success"; the rice was then donated to a charity under the celebrity's name. Nowadays, fans are using the wreaths to share secrets that only the star and fans would understand, such as picking a specific weight of rice or attaching a special photo to the gift. On August 14th, B2ST's fans grabbed everyone's attentionat the United Cube Concert by delivering2.5 tonnes of rice, which had somevery ambiguous messages attached. For example, one rice wreath read, "Yoseob-ah, can I make a featuring in your fairy-like life?"; a photoshopped photo of Yoseob and a fairy was seen above the pile of rice. Another rice wreath weighed approximately 500kg, and its message said, "Please tell me how I can have a son like Ki Kwang. My ball is 330kg" While the messages drew much amusement, the general public seems to approve of this new show of dedication, as it displays a more mature fandom culture. Fans are not only supporting their favorite star, but they're also helping out rice framers and people in need with their donations. Thus, sending just one rice wreath to express love for a celebrity is also a mark of being socially conscious.
