Lee Byung Hun to receive a bigger role in G.I. Joe sequel

Korean actor Lee Byung Hun is set to receive a more substantial role in the sequel to G.I. Joe.

The character of Storm Shadow, played by the IRIS star, will be given more emphasis in the upcoming sequel to 2009’s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. Paramount Pictures acknowledged that Lee’s work contributed much to the success of the first film and are developing more stories around his character. Lee has been getting much attention outside of the Korean market recently for his roles in G.I. Joe and last years I Come with the Rain, where he starred along side Josh Hartnett and Japanese actor Takuya Kimura.

Filming for the sequel is scheduled to begin in August with a pending 2012 release.

    You KNOW when he “died” all epicly ambiguous like that… they were going to bring him back. I just hope the concept/script is better this time. In all honesty, it looked cool (and Joseph Gordon-Levitt = awesome) but the story was just poo.

    PS. BTW. That screenshot is SO FUCKIN WIN… except for the allkpop logo on his abs. Photoshop fail much?!?! hahaha

    YES!!!! i only watched the movie for him.
    IMo. channing tatum got fat and ugly..
    He’s such a great actor.. I hope one day he becomes first asian man to win some American awards like golden globes or academy awards in modern times..
    maybe the story will be about his background and cobra .. not really into GI JOe though.. i don’t get what it’s about :[

    YES! The only reason I watched GI Joe was because of LBH! I’m so happy that Paramount acknowledged his contribution to the success of the movie and they decided to give him a bigger role!

    More screen time for LBH! :)

    o my gosh i never put it together i watched the first one and i knew he was korean but i never watched anything of his and then i watched iris and i fell in love with him now i cant wait to see the next gi joe i will be very happy

    Bigger role!? Wow to me storm shadow’s role in the movie to me was already a supporting role and storm shadows storyline was a big part of the movie.

    Giving him a bigger role will only mean it is already a starring role.
