Confessions of a black former K-Pop trainee

Have you ever wondered what it’s like being a Kpop trainee in South Korea?

Kiya Boyd became a k-pop trainer in a Korean company. She recently participated in an interview with YouTube channel 'Asian Boss' and revealed the ups and downs of becoming a Korean Idol as a black woman.

Can a black person become a K-pop idol?

Check out the interview above.

To be fair, no one's that interested in non Asian's performing as kpop artists in general. The white trainee's get told they can't be in a kpop group too.

It sad, hypocritic and ignorant from many in Korean society to discriminate against a person
ethnicity (not just in kpop industry) specifically African people because of their skin colour, while their idols shamelessly appropriating their culture e.g. rap, dreadlocks, braids, fashion etc
