South Korea President Yoon Suk Yeol engaged in a 30-minute meeting with Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, in Seoul, focusing on enhancing cooperation in AI and digital technology. 

The meeting, held at the presidential office in Yongsan, was at the behest of Meta as the two conversed about fostering a robust digital ecosystem. Sung Tae Yoon, the director of national policy at the presidential office, emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between Meta and Korean enterprises. Mark Zuckerberg highlighted that South Korea, renowned for its advanced smart appliances, wearable technology, and intelligent vehicles, offers a promising platform for Meta's artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

Beyond the technological collaboration, the discussions also delved into broader concerns, including the dissemination of disinformation on social media platforms such as Facebook, which is owned by Meta. This dialogue was particularly significant as Zuckerberg's visit marked his first trip to Korea in nearly a decade, following his earlier visit to Japan. 

During his stay, Zuckerberg also met with LG Electronics CEO William Cho and Samsung Electronics Executive Chairman Lee Jae Yong to explore potential partnerships in AI and extended reality (XR) domains. As he prepares to depart for India, the conversations in Korea are poised to deepen Meta's global engagements and shape the trajectory of AI and digital technology.
