Seo Ha Yan, singer Lim Chang Jung's wife who is 18 years younger than him, showed off her impressive cooking skills.
Recently, a video titled 'Try eating frozen tteokguk rice cakes like this' was uploaded to Seo Ha Yan's YouTube channel.
On this day, Seo Ha Yan said, “After Lunar New Year passes, doesn’t everyone have at least one bag of tteokguk rice cakes left in the freezer? Our family also just left them sitting there, but today I tried using them in a delicious way,” while demonstrating her cooking skills.
She continued, “One menu that is perfect as a snack for kids, and another that works well as a side dish or even as food to enjoy with drinks! These are dishes you can easily make with leftover tteokguk rice cakes from the freezer without any special ingredients, so if you still have some at home, you should try making them together.”
Seo Ha Yan added, “This is how you can use up leftover tteokguk rice cakes,” and shared a helpful tip as a mother raising five children, saying, “If you present it just a little differently, the kids think it’s something new and eat it again.”
As Seo Ha Yan busily cooked, the production staff admired the food, saying, “The smell is incredible.”
Seo Ha Yan said, “Lunar New Year has passed and spring has arrived. I thought carefully about what kind of dish I should make for you, and decided to use the food that had been sitting in the freezer,” adding that she would make snacks for the kids as well as dishes that could be enjoyed as side dishes or with drinks using the leftover tteokguk rice cakes.
The children of Lim Chang Jung (52) and Seo Ha Yan (35) are said to love sotteok sotteok. Seo Ha Yan laughed and said, “But I’m not really the type to give them sausages often. They eat them very well outside. The kids like sausages, but I don’t go out of my way to buy sausages to make for them at home.”
When the production staff commented that she must worry a lot about cooking every day, Seo Ha Yan replied, “That’s true. But I don’t try to develop something special. I tend to make similar dishes every day.”
She added, “But I give them options from A to E. I ask, ‘What should I make today?’ or ‘What do you want to eat?’ and they choose from those. So I end up making the same dishes often.”
While making tteokguk rice cake tteokgalbi, Seo Ha Yan joked about one that didn’t turn out well, saying, “The failed one is for my husband.”
The food she prepared was served to the children for dinner. When Seo Ha Yan asked her son, “You eat tteokgalbi every day. Don’t you get tired of it?” he replied, “I don’t,” while continuing to eat enthusiastically.
Meanwhile, Lim Chang Jung married Seo Ha Yan in 2017. It was his second marriage after having three sons with his first wife. Lim and Seo had two more sons together and now have five sons in total.
