Ha Yerin, the lead actress of Netflix’s 'Bridgerton Season 4,' shared the story of how she joined the series.
On March 4, a press conference for 'Bridgerton Season 4' was held at the Live Hall on the 3rd floor of Myeongdong Community House Masil in Jung-gu, Seoul. Ha Yerin, the season’s lead, attended the event.
When asked about how she became part of the show, Ha Yerin said, “I’m not sure how it works in Korea, but we recorded a self-tape and sent it in. I filmed the designated scenes, and then my agent called me. The call came when I was visiting my mother in Korea.”
She continued, “My mother lives in Taean, so I was there at the time. I was grocery shopping at Lotte Mart when my agent called and asked if I knew about 'Bridgerton.' Of course, I said yes, and then they told me to submit a videotape within 24 hours. So I filmed several scenes, including the lake scene, and sent them in.”
Ha Yerin added with a laugh, “Then they asked me to act alongside Luke Thompson. Due to the time difference, we did it over Zoom at 11 PM Korean time. I was so nervous all day, but I did it. A few days later, I was having brunch with my mom in Gangnam, Seoul, when I got the call saying I had been cast as Sophie, the female lead.”
'Bridgerton' is a Netflix series that captivated audiences with its scandals and romance set in 19th-century British high society. Season 4 follows Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson), a free-spirited bachelor indifferent to marriage, who meets the mysterious “lady in the silver dress” at a masquerade ball, and Sophie Baek (Ha Yerin), a humble maid. The season explores their romance as they navigate love, identity, and social class boundaries.
