Hong Jin Kyung addressed the recent photos of her daughter Rael that surprised many online.
On February 8, Hong Jin Kyung shared a post on social media that read, “#KimRaelInRealLife #BeforeEditing #AfterEditing #FakeLife Rael, isn’t this basically fraud!!”
She also revealed part of a conversation with an acquaintance. The acquaintance asked, “I saw photos on Instagram that said they were Rael’s. Did you see them?” Hong Jin Kyung replied, “Yeah, I saw them. She’s driving me crazy,” and explained, “It’s all editing.”
Hong Jin Kyung continued, “There must be an app that reshapes your face, sharpens your nose, and does your makeup,” adding, “They made her look like a Chinese beauty. I thought she was Fan Bingbing.” She then shared a photo of Rael before editing.
She jokingly added, “You should come join your mom and try living the ‘fake life’ too,” and said, “Phew. I will upload the conversation with Rael again on my feed after getting her prior consent.” After seeing the post, science YouTuber Orbit asked, “Was this discussed with Rael?” Hong Jin Kyung replied, “No, it wasn’t. The situation felt serious, so I just posted it. Now I look like a mom who shaved her underage daughter’s jaw. This is driving me crazy.”
Earlier, Rael’s recent photos circulated across online communities and social media. In the images, she appeared with visuals reminiscent of a Chinese beauty, drawing attention. Hong Jin Kyung emphasized that the dramatic change came from photo editing apps, not cosmetic procedures.
