Netflix is keeping busy and is preparing another Korean series.

On January 14, the global streaming platform confirmed the production of its upcoming original series 'Dealer' and revealed an impressive cast lineup featuring Jung So Min, Ryu Seung Bum, Lee Soo Hyuk, and Ryu Kyung Soo.

'Dealer' is a crime drama centered on casino dealer Jung Geon Hwa, who is forced to tap into long-sealed abilities and plunge into a perilous world of high-stakes gambling to salvage her marriage plans after they are suddenly thrown into crisis.

The series is directed by Choi Young Hwan, a seasoned cinematographer-turned-director known for elevating genre-driven visuals in films such as 'Smugglers,' 'Veteran,' 'Tazza,' and 'The Thieves.' With a glamorous casino setting as its backdrop, expectations are high for the kind of visually dynamic storytelling Choi will bring to the screen. Adding further weight to the project, 'Squid Game' creator Hwang Dong Hyuk is participating as a planner and producer, significantly boosting anticipation.

The casting has drawn particular attention. Jung So Min takes on the role of Jung Geon Hwa, signaling a bold transformation. An ace dealer who skillfully handles casino clients, Geon Hwa is a character far removed from indulgences like drinking and gambling. However, after falling victim to fraud while preparing a newlywed home, her carefully laid marriage plans collapse overnight. Determined to set things right, she steps into the gambling underworld using abilities she had long kept hidden. Jung So Min, who has built a wide-ranging portfolio across romance, comedy, and fantasy through projects such as 'Love Reset,' 'Alchemy of Souls,' 'Love Next Door,' and 'Would You Marry Me,' is expected to showcase yet another striking facet of her acting range.

Ryu Seung Bum stars as Hwang Chi Soo, a character who scrapes together money at the casino only to pour it straight back into gambling. Joining forces with Geon Hwa, Chi Soo becomes a key driver of the narrative. Known for his distinctive performances in Netflix’s Good News as well as films like 'Tazza: One Eyed Jack' and 'The Berlin File,' Ryu Seung Bum is set to leave a powerful imprint once again.

Lee Soo Hyuk, who has carved out a unique presence through his striking visuals and aura in dramas such as 'S Line' and 'Empress Woo,' joins the cast as Jo Jun, a player who disrupts the balance of the casino table. With exceptional skills and an unshakable poker face, Jo Jun’s arrival is expected to inject fresh tension into the story.

Ryu Kyung Soo plays Choi Woo Seung, Geon Hwa’s boyfriend and a detective in the violent crimes unit. Gentle and warm in front of Geon Hwa but relentless when pursuing a case, Woo Seung allows Ryu Kyung Soo to further expand his acting spectrum. Following his intense performances in Netflix’s 'The Bequeathed' and films such as 'Noise' and 'Yadang: The Snitch,' attention is focused on the added synergy he will bring to Dealer.

The series raises compelling questions about the choices its characters make within the gambling world, and the ripple effects those decisions create. With a trusted cast and a solid production team coming together, 'Dealer' is poised to make a strong impression on Netflix audiences worldwide.
