Actor Song Kang has purchased a luxury apartment in Seongsu dong, Seoul, for 6.7 billion KRW(~4.5 million USD).
According to the real estate industry and the Supreme Court registry on December 17th KST, Song Kang acquired one 227㎡ unit at Seoul Forest Hillstate in Seongsu dong 2 ga, Seongdong district, Seoul, at the end of June, and completed ownership registration last month. This marks the highest transaction price ever recorded since the complex was first sold.
The registry shows a maximum secured debt of approximately 4.6 billion KRW. Given that mortgage limits are typically set at 110–120% of the loan amount, Song Kang is estimated to have taken out a loan of up to 4.2 billion KRW, roughly 60% of the purchase price. Although mortgage loans in the Seoul metropolitan area were capped at 600 million KRW following the June 27 real estate measures, Song Kang reportedly signed the purchase contract on the day the policy was announced, allowing him to avoid the new restrictions.
Seoul Forest Hillstate is one of the luxury apartment complexes that helped transform the Seongsu area into a high end residential neighborhood. Numerous celebrities have previously chosen the complex, including actors Namgoong Min and Lee Sang Yoon, as well as Eric, Yuk Sungjae, and former baseball player Park Chan Ho.
Meanwhile, Song Kang enlisted for mandatory military service in April last year and was discharged as a sergeant in October after completing his service. His post discharge fan meeting in Japan sold out all sessions, demonstrating that his popularity remained strong even during his military hiatus.
