A controversy has flared online after a decades-old news report from 1994 resurfaced amid unverified allegations suggesting that actor Cho Jin Woong may have had a juvenile criminal history.
On December 5, an online community post revisited the article and drew widespread attention.

The report, originally published on January 26, 1994, was titled 'Three High School Students Face Arrest Warrants for Assaulting Schoolgirl in Stolen Car.' According to the article, Seoul’s Bangbae Police Station sought arrest warrants for three male high school students on charges of special theft and attempted aggravated rape.
The report stated that the suspects allegedly used a stolen luxury car to lure teenage girls on their way home, sexually assaulted them, and stole their belongings. These crimes reportedly occurred four times between November 1993 and early 1994. The article also noted that the students stole high-end vehicles that had been left idling near nightlife districts and later abandoned them after committing the crimes.
After the article resurfaced, online users began pointing out similarities between the report and allegations published by Dispatch on December 5. Dispatch claimed that Cho Jin Woong engaged in delinquent behavior during high school, including stealing a parked car and driving without a license, and that he reportedly faced criminal proceedings for an attempted sexual assault during his second year of high school.
Some commenters further speculated that the “S High School in Seongnam” referenced in the 1994 report could be Seohyeon High School, which Cho Jin Woong attended. This claim remains entirely unverified.
At this time, no official confirmation has been made regarding any connection between Cho Jin Woong and the 1994 case, and the claims circulating online remain speculative. The resurfaced report continues to generate significant discussion across social media and online forums.
