Actor Park Si Hoo provided an update on the ongoing legal action he initiated after rumors spread claiming he was involved in breaking up a married couple.
On November 21, Park’s legal representative, Hyemyung LLC, released an official statement saying, “We would like to provide a formal update regarding the false information recently spread on social media about actor Park Si Hoo and the legal actions currently underway. In August, actor Park Si Hoo filed a criminal complaint against the suspect who wrote and distributed malicious false posts on his social networking service. The complaint includes charges of defamation through the spread of false information under the Information and Communications Network Act, and the investigation is currently in progress.”
The agency emphasized, “The claim posted by the suspect, alleging that actor Park Si Hoo introduced a woman to a married man and contributed to the collapse of the family, is entirely false and completely baseless.”
According to Park’s legal team, “The incident began when the suspect entered her divorced former husband’s home, stole his mobile phone, and maliciously edited and distorted various stored conversations and photo files before posting them on social media. The suspect’s former husband also filed a complaint, and the police recently acknowledged the charges of defamation through false information under the Information and Communications Network Act and forwarded the case to the prosecution.”
The statement continued, “Investigators have confirmed that the posts made by the suspect were false or manipulated. Because the posts regarding the former husband and actor Park Si Hoo originate from the same context and the same materials, it is apparent that the charges in Park Si Hoo’s case will also be acknowledged now that the former husband’s case has been recognized. We will respond firmly, without leniency or settlements, to baseless rumors and malicious slander that seriously damage actor Park Si Hoo’s reputation. We again emphasize that we will pursue those who create or spread fake news and false information online to the very end and hold them strictly responsible under the law.”
On August 5, an individual identified as A posted on social media claiming Park Si Hoo introduced a woman to her husband, leading to the breakdown of their marriage. However, the woman mentioned by A stated she had “no acquaintance whatsoever with Park Si Hoo or any of the individuals involved,” firmly denying the accusation. A’s former husband also expressed his regret to Park Si Hoo through YTN and stated that the allegations were untrue.
