GIRLSET has just opened up about their journey as a group in an interview with Billboard.
On November 11, Billboard revealed the exciting new interview - in which GIRLSET discussed several pressing questions and also participated in a stunning photoshoot.
When asked about their well-known past controversy, in which previous members KG and Kaylee left the group following a lawsuit against JYP for exploitation, GIRLSET stated: "We had a lot of intertwined feelings about everything: our journey, our relationships, the past members. But we had each other to rely on... It's impossible to sit down and explain everything. But then we found a group in us. It felt right — like this was the moment to truly put ourselves out there as GIRLSET."
The girls explained that while writing the songs for their upcoming release, they channeled their thoughts and feelings on what they've been through. They stated that the songs are their way of communicating how they feel with fans: "We really hope that people listen to the songs and lyrics and really try to see our side."
GIRLSET explained that the biggest changes that have occurred during their rebranding have actually been on the creative side of things. "As we became a lot more involved in the creative process, we really wanted to be able to define who we are as GIRLSET. I think that's where the biggest changes were with us and JYP, was with our creativeness."
When discussing their past as the six-member group VCHA, the girls said they felt more 'right' as a group now. "I think [VCHA] was an era and we were young... It was a learning experience. I like seeing how much we've grown and found ourselves... [VCHA] was part of our story."
Next, GIRLSET was asked about their thoughts on fellow global girl group KATSEYE and how they feel about the constant comparisons between KATSEYE and GIRLSET. "It shouldn't be about [comparisons]. It's amazing seeing so many beautiful, young, talented girls from different cultures coming together and making something so great. What [KATSEYE] is doing is amazing and they're super sweet. So I think it's more about appreciating both, because we're both special in our own ways... Let's just be girl's girls. Let's slay together."
