Members of CSJH The Grace looked back on their debut-era naming and admitted they felt ashamed of both the team label and the individual stage tags assigned to them.
In a video posted Oct. 30, 2025 KST on the YouTube channel ‘Jae Chingu’, host Kim Jae Joong framed the group as a meticulously assembled “project” team from their trainee days, noting that TVXQ was formed the same way and that Cheon Sang Ji Hee emerged from a pool of veteran female trainees.
During the chat, the trio referenced their early-era monikers—“Cheonmu Stephanie,” “Sangmi Lina,” and “Jiseong Sunday.” Asked by Kim Jae Joong, “How did you really feel when those names were given—especially with TVXQ as a reference point?” Stephanie replied, “The team name was at least pretty.” Sunday added that her tag was often misread: “Mine actually meant ‘gentle, wise voice,’ but people kept asking if it was ‘Jiseong.’ It was a bit stressful.”
Stephanie went further: “I cried. ‘Cheonmu’ means ‘dance of the heavens.’ The word itself—and the length of it—shocked me. When I first heard it, I said, ‘I can’t do this. It’s too tacky.’ Lee Soo Man really liked it, saying it blended East and West, so I said my piece and then cried outside.” She laughed at how the label stuck: “‘Cheonmu Stephanie’—does that even make sense? Thanks to that, I was imprinted as ‘the dancer’ on shows like ‘X-Man’, and it took about ten years of hard work to grow into a vocal artist because that image was so strong.”
Lina explained, “‘Sangmi’ uses the characters for ‘upper/most’ and ‘beauty,’ basically ‘top-tier beauty.’” When Kim Jae Joong joked that it must have been embarrassing, the production staff teased him in turn for once going by “Hero.” Kim Jae Joong admitted, “I was so embarrassed.”
The episode also touched on the heyday of ‘Guerilla Concert’, with Kim Jae Joong calling Cheon Sang Ji Hee a “can’t-miss” vocal lineup in their era and the members reflecting on how carefully curated the team truly was.
