MMA fighter and TV personality Choo Sung Hoon was forced to make a sudden exit from Kian84's new variety show, 'Extreme 84', right before departure due to a serious injury.
On the November 30 premiere of the MBC show, Kian84 was set to head to South Africa for an "extreme" trail marathon alongside wild animals like lions and elephants. He recruited Choo Sung Hoon and actor Kwon Hwa Woon as his crew members.
However, the team faced a crisis at the airport when Choo Sung Hoon arrived on crutches.
"I broke two bones while filming yesterday," Choo explained, shocking everyone. "I fell strangely while riding a jet ski and my foot got caught." He revealed he might even need surgery.
Although he expressed his desire to go and help in any way possible, after an emergency meeting, it was decided he would stay in Korea to recover. "The first crew member has withdrawn like this," Kian84 said bitterly.
Meanwhile, actor Kwon Hwa Woon impressed viewers with his running specs. A "successful fan" who started running because of Kian84, he revealed he achieved a "Sub-3" (completing a full marathon in under 3 hours) just six months after starting, and completed 12 full marathons in a single year.
Back in the studio, comedian Lee Eun Ji also vouched for the effects of running, revealing, "I used to be 65kg, but after I started running, I went down to 56kg. I lost nearly 10kg (approx. 22 lbs)."
'Extreme 84' is a "super-extreme" running variety show that pushes Kian84 to his absolute limits. The show features him taking on unimaginable courses that go far beyond the standard 42.195km marathon distance, testing his endurance in the world's most extreme environments.
