Actress Lee Young Ae has donated to support a Thai international student.
According to Chonnam National University’s volunteer club 'Rhythm of Hope' on November 14 KST, a Thai student named Sirinya, who had been studying Korean at the university’s Language Education Center, was found collapsed in her dormitory last July.
She was later diagnosed with subdural hemorrhage and has been receiving hospital treatment while in a coma. When news spread that her family could not afford the medical and repatriation costs, members of the university and local citizens began fundraising efforts.
The initial fundraising goal was 9 million KRW, but contributions continued to pour in, surpassing twice the amount. Lee Young Ae also joined the effort and donated 10 million KRW.
Lee Young Ae, who participated in the donation, stated, “I’m actually grateful to the students for doing such a good deed.”
