Dayoung of girl group WJSN (Cosmic Girls) has captivated fans with her raw and genuine charm in a new photoshoot and interview with Allure Korea, released on October 22 KST.
In the pictorial, Dayoung sports a sleek black leather jacket, tousled hair, and natural makeup, exuding a unique, effortlessly chic aura. Her deep, piercing gaze into the camera adds a charismatic intensity, showcasing a side of her fans had never seen before—earning widespread praise from global audiences.
The interview revealed even more of Dayoung’s honest and reflective personality. She opened up about the creative process and stories behind her first solo digital single, “gonna love me, right?”, released last month.
Regarding her decision not to promote the album ahead of its release, she explained:
“I wanted the first content from this album to be the music video itself. A single photo couldn’t capture the vibe I intended, so I chose to skip pre-release promotions and focus instead on teaser clips and music show performances.”
On the motivation behind her solo debut, Dayoung shared:
“I wanted to rebrand myself as a person through this solo release.”
She added:
“I love who I’ve been since debuting in 2016, but through solo activities, I wanted to break away from that image and create a refreshing twist that would surprise people.”
Her solo efforts have paid off: the title track “Body” earned her a 1st place win on SBS funE’s ‘The Show’. Gratefully reflecting on the achievement, she said:
“One reason this album meant so much was because of the incredible support I received from so many people. I could never have done it without them.”
She added:
“Winning first place meant the world to me. It gave me a new reason to keep making music.”
