TEMPEST’s Hyuk opened up about his songwriting process during the group’s showcase for their seventh mini album ‘As I Am,’. The event was hosted by comedian Yoo Jaepil.
‘As I Am’ marks TEMPEST’s first comeback in seven months since their previous mini album ‘RE: Full of Youth,’ released in March. The new album includes five tracks, including the title song ‘In The Dark,’ with members Hyuk and LEW participating in the lyrics for the track ‘CHILL.’
During the showcase, Hyuk shared, “I thought a lot about youth while writing ‘CHILL.’ I focused on the idea of taking a break and enjoying the present. I recalled the feelings I had as a trainee, when we’d practice late into the night until morning came.” He added, “I listened to a lot of songs for inspiration, especially from BTS. Their music gave me comfort and motivation.”
