Renowned R&B soul artist Bumkey released a remake track to pay tribute to the late Wheesung, who passed away last March.
On October 30, at 6 PM KST, Bumkey released his reinterpretation of “I'm Missing You,” a track from Wheesung’s second album 'It's Real.' The remake was created with the official consent of Wheesung’s family and conveys Bumkey’s deep respect and heartfelt emotions toward the late artist.
The two artists previously collaborated on the duet “How Much Is Love,” establishing a musical connection. In this remake, Bumkey focused on adding his own artistic touch while preserving the original song’s emotional essence. His delicate vocals and rich emotional delivery are expected to offer listeners a new yet equally moving experience.
This project carries significant meaning, as it maintains the essence of R&B soul while incorporating contemporary sensibilities, symbolizing the continuation of Wheesung’s musical influence through Bumkey.
Ahead of the release, Brand New Music shared teaser content on its official social media channels. On October 28, a lyric video teaser gave fans the first glimpse of the track, followed by a live clip teaser on October 29 showing Bumkey performing the song. In the video, Bumkey delivers the song with calm, restrained emotion, leaving a profound impact.
Brand New Music stated, “Through this remake, Bumkey wanted to express his deep respect for Wheesung’s music. He approached the project with a sense of responsibility for the R&B soul genre, resulting in a highly polished final work.”
Bumkey’s new single “I'm Missing You” is now available on all major online music platforms.
