TVING's upcoming original series, 'Dear X,' is preparing viewers for a gripping and dangerous love triangle between Kim Yoo Jung, Kim Young Dae, and Kim Do Hoon.
On October 22, the production team unveiled a special poster featuring Baek Ah Jin (played by Kim Yoo Jung), Yoon Jun Seo (Kim Young Dae), and Kim Jae Oh (Kim Do Hoon).
The series tells the story of Baek Ah Jin, a woman who wears a mask to escape a hellish reality and rise to the top, and the Xs, whose lives are wounded because of her. The story focuses on Ah Jin's downfall, concealed beneath her beautiful looks and cruel nature, and Yoon Jun Seo's love, which drives him to choose his own hell to protect her. This destructive romantic suspense has been drawing attention for its intense narrative.
'Dear X' is based on a globally popular webtoon of the same name. The series is directed by Lee Eun Bok, known for hit dramas like 'Sweet Home,' 'Mr. Sunshine,' 'Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (Goblin),' and 'Descendants of the Sun,' alongside the acclaimed director Park So Hyun.
The screenplay is co-written by Choi Ja Won, who won the Best Script award in the 2018 KBS one-act drama competition, and Ban Ji Woon, the original webtoon author. The casting of popular young actors—including Kim Yoo Jung, Kim Young Dae, Kim Do Hoon, and Lee Yeol Eum—has further heightened anticipation among drama fans.
The newly released special poster vividly captures the complex and precarious relationship between the three main characters. Baek Ah Jin, dressed in a striking red gown, looks down with a cold, detached gaze, leaving a strong impression.
Around her, Yoon Jun Seo stands behind in a protective stance, while Kim Jae Oh leans into her, expressing contrasting emotions. The tagline, “My Beloved X, Brilliantly Falling to Ruin”, along with the two men’s hands holding onto Ah-jin, hints at the dangerous nature of their relationships.
The characters’ relationships, caught between salvation and destruction, are a central point of interest in the series. Kim Yoo Jung, who plays Baek Ah Jin, explained, “Ah Jin and Jun Seo’s connection can be described as a ‘relationship tied by time.’ They met as children, and even as adults, it feels as though time has stopped. They lived like children and ultimately missed the moment when they could have grown apart. Watch closely to see what kind of relationship they have and the impact they have on each other.”
Kim Young Dae, portraying Yoon Jun Seo—a man who believes salvation comes through love—added, “Jun Seo supports and sympathizes with Ah Jin with absolute devotion, but he gradually experiences cracks in their relationship amid unavoidable conflicts, ultimately heading toward destruction.”
Kim Do Hoon, playing Baek Ah Jin’s blind supporter Kim Jae Oh, revealed, “Ah Jin gave Jae Oh a reason to live. Even someone who couldn’t love himself became someone who mattered to another person through her words,” sparking viewers’ curiosity about his role.
'Dear X' will premiere with episodes 1 through 4 on Thursday, November 6, at 6:00 PM.
