Former EXO member and singer Tao tied the knot with Xu Yiyang, a Chinese singer formerly part of SM Rookies, in a lavish ceremony.
According to Chinese media outlets, including Sina.com, Tao and Xu Yiyang exchanged vows on October 16 in Beijing. Tao drew attention by presenting his bride with a massive diamond ring.
Although the wedding was attended only by close family, relatives, and friends, the event was livestreamed, attracting over 16 million online viewers. During the broadcast, the couple shared gifts with fans through a raffle, spreading joy among their supporters.
However, the livestream also included the promotion and sale of products such as chocolates and alcoholic beverages, sparking criticism in China. Many netizens expressed disapproval, accusing the couple of using their wedding as a commercial opportunity.
Tao debuted as a member of EXO under SM Entertainment in 2012 but left the group in 2015.
