Actor Uhm Tae Woong has made his long-awaited return to the screen after a nine-year hiatus. His last public work was interrupted in 2016 following a personal controversy, and this marks a significant comeback for the actor.
In 2016, Uhm faced allegations of sexual assault from a nightlife worker, which were later proven false. However, he did acknowledge charges related to prostitution and was fined 1 million KRW (about $718.94). After years of reflection and keeping a low profile, Uhm began resurfacing earlier this year as a photographer and reignited his acting career with the release of the Wavve series 'I KILL U' on August 22.
Uhm Tae Woong has now returned to cinema with the upcoming film 'The Last Assignment'. His biggest source of support throughout this journey has been his wife, Yoon Hye Jin. She shared a video on social media showing Uhm Tae Woong crying during filming, capturing an emotional, unguarded moment of the actor.
In the clip, Uhm breaks down even after the director calls “cut,” illustrating his deep immersion in the role. Yoon Hye Jin has also actively promoted the movie, posting theater screening lists and encouraging audiences to watch. She wrote, affectionately, “Please give him lots of love and attention,” signaling her unwavering support.
Adding to the encouragement, Uhm Tae Woong’s elder sister, actress Uhm Jung Hwa, praised her brother’s new chapter. Sharing a review poster featuring celebrity endorsements, she commented, “A warm and touching film! Full of lovely people,” showing her heartfelt support.
'The Last Assignment' tells the story of a substitute teacher guiding students as they complete their final assignments in their own unique ways. Uhm Tae Woong plays the lead role of teacher Kim Young Nam. The film is scheduled to premiere on September 3.
