Former 4MINUTE member Jeon Jiyoon(Jenyer) candidly reflected on the emotional turmoil she experienced after the group’s disbandment in a recent video posted to Kwon Sohyun’s YouTube channel on September 23. Titled “Unnie, Why Did You Do That Back Then? | Jiyoon Unnie’s Side of the Story & Unreleased Dance Clip,” the episode featured the two former groupmates discussing their past, present, and hopes for the future.
During the conversation, Kwon Sohyun asked Jeon about her recent activities, noting her appearance on Yubin’s YouTube channel as a writer. Jeon confirmed that she’s currently working as a fiction writer, though she chose not to reveal the title of her work. “I’ve always loved creating stories. I used to think, ‘What if this plot went a different way?’ That led me to start writing novels,” she shared. “I have a very proactive personality. I get passionate and start right away—then clean up the mess later.”

But the most poignant part of the video came when Jeon talked about the disbandment of 4MINUTE, calling it the hardest time of her life.
“The first year or two after we disbanded was the toughest. We had belonged somewhere for years, and then suddenly we were just… gone. It was devastating. I had no sense of belonging, and no desire to recover from it,” she confessed.
Kwon Sohyun echoed the sentiment, recalling the day she and Jeon tried to visit their agency CEO in person after the sudden announcement. “It felt like the world was collapsing,” she said. Jeon added, “It felt like chasing down an ex-boyfriend—it was that intense.”
When asked about the possibility of a 4MINUTE reunion, both expressed mixed feelings. “It would be fun to get together,” Jeon admitted, “but after so many years, I wonder if it could ever feel like the old days again.”
