Sometimes, a Korean drama leaves you smiling from ear to ear, but other times, it leaves you staring at the screen, wondering, "Why did it have to end like this?" These characters were beautifully written, made fans root for them, and yet their endings felt unfair or heartbreaking. Whether it was unrequited love, death, or just a lack of closure, these characters deserved so much more.

Here are some of the most talked-about K-drama characters who definitely deserved better endings. (Warning: Major Spoilers ahead!)

OH SOO AH (FROM 'ITAEWON CLASS')

She was a strong, independent character who had a complicated relationship with the male lead. Despite her loyalty and struggles, she ended up alone and distanced from everyone. Fans wished she had a happier ending or at least more closure for everything she went through.

KIM SHIN (FROM 'GOBLIN')

Kim Shin’s ending was bittersweet, with him left to wait an eternity for his love to be reborn again. While poetic, many viewers found it heartbreaking that he could not simply live a normal, happy life with her. The tragic romance had fans reaching for tissues until the very end.

SEO DAN & GU SEUNG JUN (FROM 'CRASH LANDING ON YOU')

We know second leads often have it tough, but Seo Dan and Gu Seung Jun’s story was particularly tragic. Just when they had found happiness, it was taken away in the most heartbreaking way. Fans felt Seo Dan’s grief was left hanging, leaving her with no closure.

JANG HAN SEO (FROM 'VINCENZO')

Han Seo had one of the best character arcs in Vincenzo, transforming from a naive younger brother into a brave and loyal ally. His sacrifice in the finale broke many fans' hearts, with many wishing he had survived to live the life he finally deserved.

CHOI YOUNG DO (FROM 'THE HEIRS')

Young Do started out as the school bully but grew tremendously as a character. He softened, learned to love, and even cared deeply for the female lead. Yet he ended up alone, with no one by his side, which left many viewers sad for his lonely ending.

YOON JI HO & NAM SE HEE (FROM 'BECAUSE THIS IS MY FIRST LIFE')

Although they ended up together, their journey was filled with misunderstandings and heartbreak. Many fans felt their reconciliation was too rushed, and the couple deserved a more emotionally satisfying resolution that showed their growth.

JUNG HWAN (FROM 'REPLY 1988')

The quiet, heartfelt love story in the show had fans rooting for Jung Hwan until the very end. His selfless decision to step aside left viewers devastated, with many still wishing he had confessed his feelings and gotten his happy ending. His bittersweet smile in the final moments became one of the most heartbreaking scenes.
