South Korean soccer player Son Heung Min has announced his departure from Tottenham Hotspur.
The Tottenham Hotspur will play against Newcastle United at the '2025 Coupang Play Series Match 2' on August 3 at 8 PM KST. The match is a part of the Premier League's summer pre-season Asia tour.
Captain Son Heung Min and his team arrived in Korea via Incheon International Airport on August 1 KST. A day later, he attended a pre-match press conference with the Tottenham coach Thomas Frank. Son Heung Min told reporters, "Thank you for coming all this way early in the morning. I would also like to thank everyone who made this mach possible. The players are all excited and we hope it will be a good match. I have one more announcement to make today and it was not an easy decision. I have decided to leave the team after this summer pre-season. I will do my best to make this last match a fun one."
Son Heung Min began playing for the Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2015. Last season, he led the Hotspur to victory and clenched the UEFA Europa League trophy. The '2025 Coupang Play Series Match 2' will be his last game as the captain of the Hotspur.
Sources say that Son Heung Min wishes to play for Major League Soccer in the United States after leaving the Premier League.
