SHINee’s Minho showcased his extraordinary endurance and stage dedication by taking on two physically demanding challenges in a single day.
On August 9 (KST), Minho competed in the “HYROX Singles Open Men” division at the global fitness competition held in Yokohama, Japan. He achieved an impressive 15th place overall among 719 participants and ranked 7th in the 30–34 age category.
HYROX is an international race that combines a total of 8 kilometers of running with eight high-intensity workout stations: rowing, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, kettlebell carry, sandbag run, and wall balls. Known as a “hell course” even among professional athletes, the competition demands an exceptional balance of endurance, strength, and mental focus.
Throughout the race, Minho maintained a steady and controlled pace, completing every segment without faltering. His top-tier finish was particularly notable given that he is not a professional athlete, further reinforcing his reputation as one of K-pop’s most athletic idols.
What made the achievement even more remarkable was what came immediately afterward. Without taking a full day of rest, Minho traveled directly to Tokyo following the competition. By 5 p.m. the same evening, he was already at Tokyo Dome for rehearsals before performing live at the “SMTOWN LIVE in Tokyo 2025” concert. Pulling off both a grueling international fitness race and a large-scale arena performance in just a few hours is a rare feat that underscores his unparalleled stamina and work ethic.
Fans and online commenters reacted with amazement, leaving messages such as, “Two major events in one day — that’s pushing human limits,” “Minho is the real-life Iron Man,” and “For him, performing must feel like a warm-up.” Others praised his discipline, writing, “He could have been a successful professional athlete,” and “It’s incredible that this is even possible at 36 years old.”
Minho has long been recognized as one of the entertainment industry’s most dedicated sports enthusiasts, regularly participating in marathons, soccer, basketball, and various other athletic pursuits. His rigorous self-management and consistent training were on full display as he successfully balanced the demands of HYROX with the high-energy performance of SMTOWN LIVE — all within the same day.
