According to media outlet reports on August 27 KST, the Seoul Seodaemun Police has begun an investigation into 'A', a popular singer, and 'B', a medical practitioner at a university hospital, for the illegal delivery of prescription psychotropic drugs to a proxy.
It's been reported that 'A' has been prescribed psychotropic drugs at 'B's hospital from 2022 until recently without any in-person visits or examinations. Furthermore, the prescription drugs were regularly picked up by 'A's manager, not themselves, potentially constituting a violation of psychotropic drug prescription laws.
Sources say that 'A' was prescribed a psychotropic drug used to treat conditions such as insomnia, anxiety disorder, and depression.
A representative of 'A's agency told news reporters, "'A' was prescribed this drug during the pandemic through a virtual examination. Since then, they have been receiving the prescription through a proxy due to their busy schedules. Admittedly, 'A' was careless."
However, the agency added on, "'A' was not prescribed the drug under another person's name, nor did they overdose on the medication or abuse it in any form."
