Despite recently purchasing a luxury villa worth 6.2 billion KRW (approx. $4.5 million USD) in cash, singer and entertainer Kim Jong Kook proved once again that he's a true penny-pincher.
On the July 10 episode of KBS2’s 'Problem Child in House', Kim shocked castmates by saying, “I’ve never washed my car. If it rains heavily, I just drive to Anyang—automatic car wash done.” He proudly added that he avoids department stores altogether, prompting laughter from the panel.
Comedian Song Eun Yi joked, “The last department store he visited was Sinchon Grace—27 years ago.” The episode also featured entertainers Lee Joon and Kwanghee, who brought humor by comparing their “paper doll” physiques and sharing behind-the-scenes anecdotes about their variety show experiences.
Kim’s extreme frugality continues to be a source of both surprise and amusement—especially given his multimillion-dollar real estate holdings.
