The global Netflix phenomenon 'Squid Game' will unveil its third and final season tomorrow, marking the end of a cultural milestone nearly four years after the debut of its first season on September 17, 2021.

'Squid Game 3' is set to premiere worldwide on June 27 and will feature six episodes. In comparison, Season 1 had nine episodes, and Season 2 had seven.

The final season continues the story of Seong Gi Hun, played by Lee Jung Jae, who reenters the deadly game after a failed rebellion in Season 2. As the narrative reaches its conclusion, viewers are expected to see Gi-hun uncover the true identity of the mysterious Front Man, played by Lee Byung Hun. The Front Man had previously joined the game under the alias Oh Young Il and teamed up with Gi Hun through the third round.

At a press conference on June 9, series creator and director Hwang Dong Hyuk encouraged fans to focus on the ideological conflict between Gi Hun and the Front Man. The fates of several other characters are also expected to draw attention.

Among them is Dae Ho, portrayed by Kang Ha Neul, who contributed to the failure of the rebellion after forgetting to bring ammunition. Hyun Joo, played by Park Sung Hoon, is a former rebel who rejoins the game. Jun Hee, played by Jo Yu Ri, enters the game while pregnant, alongside her ex-boyfriend Myung Gi, played by Im Si Wan (Siwan). The story also includes No Eul, portrayed by Park Gyu Young, who participates as a pink guard and shares a personal history with Kyung Seok, played by Lee Jin Wook. How these characters become entangled is expected to be a key element of the plot.

Audiences are also curious about the remaining three games. The trailer revealed hints of a hide-and-seek challenge and a jump rope contest, but the final game has not yet been revealed. Following the memorable appearance of the robotic doll Young Hee in Season 1, her male counterpart Chul Soo is expected to appear, sparking speculation about the role he will play.

Netflix has organized special events to celebrate the final season of its most successful series. In partnership with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, a 'Squid Game' parade will take place on June 28 at 7:30 PM. Characters such as Young Hee and the pink guards will march from Gwanghwamun through Sejong-ro to Seoul Plaza, engaging with fans for about an hour. After the parade, a fan event will begin at 8:30 PM in front of Seoul City Hall at Seoul Plaza. The event will feature director Hwang Dong Hyuk along with lead actors Lee Jung Jae and Lee Byung Hun.

'Squid Game' is considered a landmark series in the history of Korean content. Season 1 set a Netflix record with 265.2 million views and 2.205 billion watch hours within 28 days of release, making it the most-watched series across both English and non-English categories. Season 2 followed with 192.6 million views and 1.38 billion watch hours, ranking second among non-English series and third overall.

The series also received critical acclaim. Season 1 was the first non-English-language show to be nominated at the 'Emmy Awards' in 2022, earning 14 nominations and winning six awards. Director Hwang became the first Asian to win the award for Outstanding Directing, and Lee Jung Jae became the first Asian male actor to win Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

As the final chapter of 'Squid Game' approaches, fans around the world await the conclusion of a series that has reshaped global television history.
