SEVENTEEN has set a new record among international artists on Japan’s Oricon 2025 mid-year album rankings, further solidifying their status as one of K-pop’s leading global acts.

According to Oricon’s Mid-Year Rankings 2025 released on June 25 (covering sales from December 9, 2024, to June 8, 2025), SEVENTEEN’s fifth full-length album ‘HAPPY BURSTDAY’ ranked No. 2 on the Combined Album Chart and No. 3 on the Album Sales Chart. These are the highest placements achieved by any non-Japanese artist in this period.

Upon its release in May, ‘HAPPY BURSTDAY’ debuted at No. 1 on Oricon’s Daily Album Chart and went on to top both the Weekly Album Sales Chart and Weekly Combined Chart. Within just five days, the album surpassed 500,000 units shipped in Japan, earning Double Platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ), reflecting its explosive popularity in the Japanese market.

Adding to the group’s achievements, SEVENTEEN’s fourth Japanese single ‘Shohikigen (消費期限 / Expiration Date)’, released on November 27, 2024, continues to enjoy long-lasting popularity. It ranked in the mid-year Singles Chart and recently topped the Top Single Sales category on Billboard Japan’s Mid-Year Charts 2025 (tracking sales from November 25, 2024, to May 25, 2025).

Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN is also participating in a Korea–Japan joint production drama titled ‘Hatsukoi DOGS (初恋DOGs)’, set to premiere on Japan’s TBS network on July 1. The group performs the theme song ‘Where Love Passed (愛が通り過ぎた跡)’, a sentimental track about lingering love, written and composed by member Woozi.
