On the June 6 episode of MBC’s 'I Live Alone,' comedian and television personality Park Na Rae took viewers on a trip to Jirisan to meet a local artisan known for crafting salted mullet roe, a rare and traditional Korean delicacy. She later introduced the gourmet treat to her fellow cast members in the studio.
The spotlight moment came when Park revealed a box of salted mullet roe valued at approximately 30 million KRW (around $21,700). She tasted the thinly sliced pieces with a look of amazement, clearly impressed by the flavor and texture.
Describing the experience, she explained that the texture was somewhere between crunchy jelly and wriggly jelly. It was chewy yet soft, gently sticking to the teeth in a satisfying way. She described the flavor as rich, savory, and deeply umami.
Back in the studio, Park shared the salted mullet roe with the cast. Kian84 smiled and asked for another piece, clearly enjoying it, while Doyoung joked by asking if there was any rice to pair with it. Everyone was surprised by the chewy texture and nutty flavor, comparing it to high-quality squid.
While she was preparing the delicacy with chef Yang Jae Joong, comedian Jeon Yu Seong made a surprise appearance. Park, startled but happy to see her neighbor, laughed and said she wished she had brought something to share with him. She quickly wrapped up the cooking to greet him.
Park then showcased her cooking skills by making pizza using a portable wood-fired oven. Once the pizza was done, she thinly sliced the salted mullet roe and placed it on top. Cast member Im Woo Il was impressed by the presentation and remarked that it looked absolutely delicious.
With her trademark charm and generosity, Park Na Rae once again brought laughter, creativity, and a touch of luxury to 'I Live Alone,' leaving both cast mates and viewers amazed.
