On May 24th, JTBC’s variety show 'Knowing Bros' featured i-dle, who returned with their new single 'Good Thing' after a year. During the show, the members talked about their recent decision to all renew their contracts together.
Senior idol Kim Heechul mentioned that after seeing i-dle’s performances and social media posts, he felt like saying, “I want to leave the company.” Member Soyeon also gained attention for a self-written rap performed at a concert, where she rapped about their contracts ending in November and questioned who might leave.
Soyeon explained that since she debuted earlier than the other members, her contract period was different. The rest of the members then adjusted their contract end dates to match hers. Miyeon shared that she kept her distance from the company during that time, which caught viewers’ attention.
Miyeon went on to say that she was afraid to go to the company alone because she didn’t know who might ask her questions. She wanted to be careful not to say the wrong thing, so she avoided going as much as possible. This showed how cautious she was about representing the group’s views.
Regarding offers from other companies, Yuqi admitted that when confusing news articles were circulating, she received many offers from different places. Although she said she was never truly shaken, hearing so much made her waver at times. She honestly confessed to having moments of doubt, mainly because the offers involved large sums of money.
Soyeon added that Yuqi was the member who most often insisted that all five should renew their contracts together. Yuqi then revealed that the renewal process took longer than expected and that there were many times she thought it might not work out.
Minnie shared that because she felt anxious, she sought advice from a fortune teller she had visited long ago. The fortune teller reassured her not to worry and said that the members would stay together, which helped Minnie feel at ease.
Kim Heechul surprised everyone by saying that quiet Shuhua had even hired a lawyer. Lee Soo Geun added that Shuhua was preparing to leave.
Shuhua immediately confirmed this and explained that although the company reached out to her many times, she thought it was better for the team if she stayed. She also revealed that she had one-on-one meetings with each member before deciding to renew.
