On April 22nd, YouTuber Lee Jin Ho uploaded a video titled “Shocking Exclusive! Kim Sae Ron’s Last Voice Recording… Was It Really Kim Soo Hyun’s Fault?” to his channel Entertainment President Lee Jin Ho, shedding new light on the late actress’s final months.
Lee began by dividing Kim Sae Ron’s life into two distinct chapters: “From the age of two, she worked tirelessly in the entertainment industry. But after her DUI incident, her life spiraled downward, forcing her to take part-time jobs within a year,” he explained.
He went on to claim that Kim, struggling with the weight of being her family’s breadwinner and financial difficulties, ended up marrying a man in the U.S. despite her reservations. “Her close acquaintances didn’t have a good impression of her American husband nor did they trust him,” Lee said. “But Kim Sae Ron hoped to escape the harsh realities of her life in Korea and dreamed of a fresh start in the U.S.”
Lee also revealed that the actress had been receiving psychiatric treatment. He claimed she had attempted self-harm multiple times and had been rushed to the emergency room on more than 20 occasions.
As part of the video, Lee released an audio recording of a phone call Kim Sae Ron had with a close acquaintance before her passing. In the recording, Kim is heard saying: “Nothing happened, really. But my boyfriend showed me YouTube videos of shamans doing readings on me. They all said I’m evil, that I should already be dead, and that my time has stopped.”
Her voice breaks as she continues, “They keep saying I’m a withered flower that can’t bloom again, that I’m selfish and terrible…”—a sentiment that moved many viewers who heard her distressed tone.
Lee also claimed that Kim had experienced intense conflict during her relationship and marriage with her American partner. He revealed portions of a written agreement allegedly signed between the two, and stated that the husband displayed obsessive behavior, leading Kim to secretly message her ex-boyfriend for support.
Despite these conflicts, Lee said, “Kim Sae Ron tried to continue the marriage and even endured gaslighting in the process.”
Kim Sae Ron passed away in February of this year.
