Singer Lim Young Woong has donated 400 million KRW (~272,553 USD) to aid wildfire recovery efforts.
On March 28, Lim Young Woong, together with his fan club 'Young Woong Era', made a donation to the Community Chest of Korea. The donation consisted of 300 million KRW from Lim Young Woong himself and 100 million KRW from his agency, Mulgogi Music. The funds will be used for relief and recovery activities for those affected by the wildfires in Korea.
Lim Young Woong shared his thoughts on the donation, saying, “I hope this donation can offer a bit of strength to those who have lost their daily lives and are struggling with firefighting efforts.”
Beloved by the public as both a singer and advertising model, Lim Young Woong has established a reputation as a figure of “good influence.” Lim Young Woong has consistently shown interest in social issues, including support for large-scale wildfire damage in Uljin, Gyeongbuk, and Samcheok, Gangwon; emergency aid for flood victims; and winter support for low-income and vulnerable groups.
Since 2021, he has steadily made donations through the Community Chest of Korea. His fan club 'Young Woong Era' is also a member of the Community Chest of Korea’s Sharing Leaders Club and regularly participates in charitable activities. These include volunteering, coal briquette sharing, and support for marginalized communities across the country.
The continued efforts of Lim Young Woong and his fan club are considered a model example of a fan-driven donation culture. Fans from across the nation have also joined in fundraising to support wildfire victims, further fueling a meaningful cycle of giving.
