On March 25, Hyerim (real name Woo Hyerim, 32), a former member of Wonder Girls, opened up about falling victim to an online scam.
Hyerim shared a lengthy post on her social media account, expressing her frustration and disbelief. "I can’t believe I got scammed online… Ha, I can't sleep. If you have the energy to scam people, why not use it to work honestly? Don't live your life like that!" she wrote.
She went on to warn others about similar scams. "After reading the news, I realized that there are many cases like mine. If someone asks you to contact them via KakaoTalk when making an online purchase, sends you an external payment link, or claims you need to resend a 1,000 KRW (about $0.70) fee — it's a scam. Please be careful."
Hyerim revealed that the scam happened while she was trying to buy books for her children. "I got scammed while buying kids' books. Don’t exploit mothers' feelings like this," she said angrily. Along with the post, she shared an image of a red warning sign, urging people to stay alert.
Hyerim married taekwondo athlete Shin Minchul (38) in 2020, and they have two sons together.
