On December 31, comedian Park Na Rae, actor Im Si Wan, Lovelyz member Jin, and singer DinDin made donations to support the families of victims affected by the Jeju Air flight tragedy.
According to Park Na Rae's representatives, she personally contacted the local government after the incident to deliver her donation. The exact amount has not been disclosed at her request.
The Community Chest of Korea also confirmed Park’s donation, quoting her statement: “I extend my deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved families grieving the loss of their loved ones. I also sincerely thank everyone working tirelessly at the scene despite the harsh weather.” The funds will be used for various support efforts, including memorial services for the victims, based on input from families, government agencies, and experts.
Actor Im Si Wan also participated in the donation effort. Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association confirmed his contribution, highlighting his message of sympathy: “To the bereaved families who have lost loved ones in an unforeseen tragedy, I offer my deepest condolences and prayers.”
Singer DinDin donated 10 million KRW (approximately $6,800) to the Korean Red Cross, expressing his sorrow: “Every year, I write messages of hope and gratitude to mark the end of the year. This year, however, my heart is heavy. I hope this contribution can provide even the slightest bit of help as the recovery process will take time. I pray for the souls of the deceased and extend my deepest sympathies to their families.”
Lovelyz member Jin also joined the relief efforts, expressing her grief over the incident: “I learned about the heartbreaking news through the media, and it left me devastated. I extend my condolences to the victims and their families. I plan to observe a period of mourning and hope others can join in supporting this cause, no matter how small the contribution.”
On December 29, at approximately 9:03 AM, Jeju Air flight 7C 2216 from Bangkok to Muan, carrying 181 passengers and crew, veered off the runway during its landing at Muan International Airport. The aircraft crashed into the airport’s perimeter wall and exploded. Among the 181 onboard, only two crew members survived, leaving 179 fatalities.
The government has declared a national mourning period until January 4, with joint memorial altars set up at the Muan Airport site and across 17 cities and provinces nationwide to honor the victims.
