Super Junior members Donghae and Eunhyuk revealed some of Heechul’s "double-sided" nature.
On October 10, the YouTube channel 'Zzanbro Shin Dong Yup' featured a video with Super Junior's unit D&E, Donghae and Eunhyuk, as guests.
During the show, host Shin Dong Yup asked, "How did the other members react when you said you were starting your own company?"
Eunhyuk replied, "Heechul hyung was very supportive. He said things like, ‘D&E should try going out and doing your own thing. You should leave (SM Entertainment) quickly. When are you leaving? Hurry and go out to do something.’”
He added, "So, we thought Heechul hyung would leave (SM Entertainment) too. He was meeting with other company executives, having drinks with them, so we thought he’d be the first to leave. But he ended up being the first to renew his contract, which made us laugh."
Donghae chimed in, "Heechul hyung told us, 'If you’re a singer, go try things outside, but if you're in variety shows, you can just stay here.'"
Eunhyuk further commented, "I think starting the company was the right decision. You know, if people don’t do what they want, they end up regretting it, thinking, ‘I should have tried it back then.’ I feel like we can do even better going forward."
Donghae then shared, "SM moved its office to Seongsu-dong, right? After being with SM for 24 years, I left, and being a sentimental person, I walked around the area for about two months. Sometimes I even teared up. I used to think I would stay with SM for the rest of my life until I died."
He added, "Of course, there are hard times, but everything that comes from the experience makes me really happy," expressing his satisfaction with his new journey.
Shin Dong Yup then asked, "Isn’t there a saying that you shouldn’t do business with friends?" Eunhyuk responded, "I’ve heard that a lot. I’m the type of person who can’t do anything else while doing things involving money or calculations are involved. But Donghae is meticulous, so he handles the accounting side," highlighting their complementary roles.
Donghae also revealed the contents of the shopping bag he carries around. Inside were bundles of cash and corporate card statements, which surprised Shin Dong Yup.
As Shin Dong Yup reacted in shock, Donghae quickly explained, "I just didn’t have anywhere else to put the cash, so I stuffed it in the shopping bag," causing everyone to laugh.
