Park Seo Joon reveals that he got casted for ‘Parasite’ because Choi Woo Shik wanted to “trample on him”

Actor Park Seo Joon appeared in the latest episode of Jung Jae Hyung’s ‘Fairy Jaehyung’ talk show and spilled on industry secrets. 

Upon asked about his frequent collaborations with actor Choi Woo Shik, Park revealed that he got casted for ‘Parasite’ partly thanks to Choi. When director Bong Joon Ho jokingly asked Choi who he wanted to “trample on” (which means someone he wants to defeat, subdue, or dominate), Choi Woo Shik cheekily responded with, "Of course, it's Park Seo Joon," which led to his casting in the Oscar-winning film ‘Parasite’.

Moreover, Park Seo Joon expressed that he was flooded with advertisement offers after he started appearing in the variety show ‘Youn’s Kitchen’ as part of the main cast, which became really popular. He half-jokingly laments that it also saddened him a bit, as he had already been acting quite a fair share but was not recognized then, and states that variety shows are what gets you ad endorsements.
