Small fire breaks out at 'M! Countdown' set before aespa's pre-recording, Winter to sit out remainder of schedules today to prevent her pneumothorax symptoms from reoccurring

On May 16 KST, SM Entertainment issued a statement regarding aespa's scheduled appearance on Mnet's 'M! Countdown' later today.

The label relayed, "Earlier on this day, a problem occurred with the pre-recording set at 'M! Countdown', and afterward, Winter showed signs of poor health conditions, so it has been decided that she needs rest. Therefore, only Karina, Giselle, and Ningning will participate during the 'M! Countdown' live broadcast. Winter's participation in future activities will be decided after monitoring her recovery."

Earlier on the morning of May 16 KST, aespa took part in a pre-recording at the CJ ENM Studio for their appearance on 'M! Countdown'. After the first pre-recording, a small fire broke out right before the group's second pre-recording, causing a delay. No injuries were reported.

Winter, who underwent surgery for pneumothorax in April of this year, will be resting for the remainder of the day, as pneumothorax symptoms can reoccur easily.
