It has been reported on March 13 KST that AOMG's CEO, DJ Pumpkin has stepped down as CEO in the aftermath of the Meenoi controversy.
DJ Pumpkin, a prominent hip-hop producer, had been serving as CEO of AOMG since 2018, taking over from Simon Dominic. After leading the company for approximately six years, he recently announced his decision to resign, citing responsibility for the various controversies surrounding Meenoi, an artist under AOMG.
Sources close to DJ Pumpkin revealed that he had been contemplating resignation for some time, especially given the mounting issues related to Meenoi. His decision to step down coincided with the fallout from the incident involving Meenoi, reflecting his sense of accountability and remorse.
Yoo Deok Gon, the president of Higher Music, will succeed DJ Pumpkin as CEO. DJ Pumpkin, a founding member of AOMG, had been instrumental in its management for an extended period.
The Meenoi incident sparked widespread attention when Meenoi tearfully confessed to a wrongdoing during a live broadcast and later revealed discrepancies related to a commercial shoot. AOMG clarified that the disagreement stemmed from differing interpretations of the authority to sign advertising contracts. However, suspicions arose regarding financial disputes and dissatisfaction with contractual terms.
Meenoi asserted her innocence, alleging fraudulent use of her electronic signature and financial losses. The cosmetics brand involved in the advertisement denied making unreasonable demands.
Subsequently, AOMG and Meenoi terminated their exclusive contract amid the escalating controversy.
Weird. Seems like there was more going on than what we are being told. Could be something, could be nothing. Still, a contract dispute that is in your favor that causes you to resign? That's some serious logical fallacy.
