Virtual idol group PLAVE, has achieved a milestone, reaching over 200,000 copies in first-week sales for their first mini-album.

In a report from Hanteo Chart on August 30, it was disclosed that 'ASTERUM: The Shape of Things to Come,' PLAVE's 1st mini-album, amassed over 199,000 copies in sales within its first week. Notably, on the final day of the tallying, the album sales crossed the 200,000 mark, as it sold over 3,000 copies on August 29 alone.

Released on August 24, the PLAVE mini-album includes five tracks, such as "Why Why Why," "The Sixth Summer," "I Just Love Ya," "Dear. PLLI," and "Alien Language Song DEMO (CD Only)."

This album surpassed the first-week sales of their debut single album 'ASTERUM,' released in March, which sold 27,000 copies in its first week of sales. Furthermore, it achieved growth by recording a first-week sales figure close to three times the total sales of 'ASTERUM,' which was 75,000 copies.

Additionally, the most recent Circle chart (formerly Gaon) update reported that PLAVE topped the weekly album chart with 150,000 albums sold.

PLAVE is a virtual group composed of five virtual humans. They started revealing their members in July 2022 and officially debuted with a single album in March.

In addition to the activities that traditional virtual idol groups undertake on platforms like YouTube and Twitch, PLAVE communicates with fans through social media like K-pop idols. They also release physical albums and make appearances on music shows.

Recently, K-pop idols have been selling various types of albums, resulting in first-week sales figures reaching millions.

Despite releasing only one type of album, PLAVE has achieved high sales figures as a rookie idol group.

Currently promoting their title track 'The Sixth Summer,' PLAVE is also scheduled to participate in the 'Idol Radio' concert, which will take place at Seoul World Cup Stadium on September 23.

They are basically V-tubers. Their streams are quite fun to watch. And they have lovely voices.

I wonder if those that provide the voices are compensated handsomely, if these songs do well, or if they are just paid a flat fee.
