The Boyz faces controversy as portion of dance practice video gets edited for a member's alleged use of a sexually crude term

AKP STAFF

The Boyz are caught in a controversy surrounding a video that has since been edited.

The controversy arose from a dance practice session, in which a member of the group, Sangyeon, allegedly said a sexually explicit term. This particular word, "sa******," originates from the Japanese language during its colonial rule and is considered a crude term signifying oral sexual activity.

Several fans are claiming that Sangyeon may have actually said different words that sound similar, such as "sal-kka-ji-get-da" (meaning 'your skin will peel off') or "sal-ppa-ji-get-da" (meaning 'you will lose weight'), as his pronunciation is unclear in the original clip. Due to the confusion surrounding the audio, some netizens are still debating whether Sangyeon used the controversial word or not.

The problematic portion of the video has been removed from the official footage and social media posts.

Some are arguing his usage of the word is evident based on the bodily position of the other members during the dance routine, as well as another member named New suddenly shouting "hyung!" right after Sangyeon's utterance.

Amidst the controversy, fans and other netizens have also shown support for the group, emphasizing that the situation lacks clear evidence. Recognizing that it could be a misunderstanding, some are suggesting that the company should take legal action against those who have left malicious comments.

Reactions include:

"I just can't help but think that he really did use that word because of the position the other two boys are in and the way New shouts out 'hyung'"

"If this were true then it's wild"
"The case has been almost proven that he said 'your skin will peel off' or 'you will lose weight'"

"I hear the last part of the sentence as the other interpretations..."
"Um, I hear the other sentences instead of the problematic word"

"The timing and the position of the other boys just personally prove to me that he said that word"
"I've listened to it over and over using my earphones and it's sa******. Also, contextually, that dance move has nothing to do with losing weight"

"It feels like I'm going through a hearing test lmao"
"It's hard being a The Boyz fan"

"I just watched the original video and it just looks like young boys playing around"
"If he really didn't say that word, why couldn't he have just proved it himself via Bubble without making it a big deal through the company?"

What are your thoughts?

I guarantee all your faves muck around and be silly behind the scenes and off camera. 'If' he said the word and while some may find it an offensive word, its actually healthy that The Boyz are like every other normal boy on the planet, the same age.
He forgot the camera was on and whoever edited the video should have been more careful, thats all.
All the pearl clutchers here need to *gasp, shock, horror* get over themselves. No idol is as pure as the driven snow, the sooner you realise that the better 🤣🙄
