IU delivered a heartfelt message of support to patients who have Lou Gehrig's disease. 

On the afternoon of July 11, she took to her personal Instagram and shared a video, expressing her participation in the 2023 Ice Bucket Challenge, which was initiated by Sean.

In the video, IU mentioned, "I was nominated by Sean and decided to take part in the Ice Bucket Challenge for 2023. I recently received the wonderful news that the construction of the first hospital for Lou Gehrig's disease in Korea will commence this year."

IU expressed her hope for continued support towards patients and their families affected by Lou Gehrig's disease. She added, "I will do my best to contribute to this cause."

The Ice Bucket Challenge serves as a relay donation campaign aimed at assisting individuals with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. 

Participants either pour ice water over their heads or donate to aid Lou Gehrig's patients, nominating three individuals to take on the challenge.

Following Sean's nomination, IU displayed a cheerful smile after being drenched in ice-cold water. The subsequent nominees were actors Lee Do Hyun, Lee Joo Young, and Heo Joon Seok.

The supportive response from netizens was evident as they expressed their thoughts on the matter. It is worth noting that IU confirmed her relationship with actor Lee Jong Suk on December 31 of the previous year. Currently, she is actively involved in the filming of the new drama 'You Have Done Well' alongside Park Bo Gum.
