Fans are touched by MAMAMOO’s reaction when spotting TWICE and NCT's lightsticks at their concert

On May 27, as part of their USA tour in Chicago, fans were thrilled to join MAMAMOO live for the sixth night of their world tour, "MAMAMOO MY:CON" Chicago. True to form, the evening was packed with live vocals, high-energy performances, and a significant amount of fan interactions. However, in addition to the unexpected appearance of pink panties on stage, another heartwarming incident touched the hearts of attendees.

During one of the intermissions between their energetic sets, MAMAMOO once again demonstrated their heartwarming affinity for their fans and casual listeners alike. During this pause, the group shared warm interactions with fans of TWICE and NCT who attended the concert in a show of support. This gesture reaffirmed that the K-pop community is devoid of barriers if we refuse to establish them, and we mutually support one another. Upon spotting the fans of these two groups, MAMAMOO's members made it their mission to extend a warm welcome and ensure they felt included.

MAMAMOO's members went out of their way to thank the NCT and TWICE fans for attending their debut show and showing their support. They were visibly moved by the crowd's enthusiastic cheers and the sea of green light sticks - the signature color of MAMAMOO's fans - even though they weren't all MAMAMOO's official light sticks, 'moobongs'. The artists made it clear just how much they appreciated the fans' efforts to adapt their light sticks to MAMAMOO's aesthetic and cheer enthusiastically for each song, in harmony with both the MAMAMOO fandom and the group members.

Indeed, both MAMAMOO and their fans welcomed the casual listeners from other groups with open arms, fostering an atmosphere of love and mutual respect. Moobongs are notoriously hard to acquire, often selling out both online and at concert venues, leaving even dedicated fans struggling to secure them. As a result, many multi-fandom fans creatively adapted by crocheting radish onesies for their light sticks - a nod to MAMAMOO, often known as the 'radish' group and fandom - and changing their colors to green in solidarity with the fandom around them. This gesture was particularly significant during the 'moobong waves' that the group and fans created during performances and intermissions, where the crowd's energy levels often spiked. The wholehearted participation and support from these multi-fandom fans held immense value for both the MAMAMOO fans and the group members themselves.

However, this heartwarming display of cross-fandom camaraderie was not universally welcomed. Several detractors, particularly among certain sections of the Red Velvet fandom, took to social media to belittle MAMAMOO's actions. They pointed out that non-Red Velvet light sticks were prohibited during Red Velvet's performances and used this as a pretext to demean MAMAMOO for their inclusive stance, branding them 'losers' for allowing fans of other groups to bring their own light sticks. Some even escalated the rhetoric to dub the girls 'flops', alleging that they had only a handful of fans and would be grateful even if 'a goat on drugs' showed up.

In response, MAMAMOO fans, and several Red Velvet fans as well, promptly debunked these allegations. They highlighted that MAMAMOO had recently made history by achieving the highest-selling debut US Tour among K-pop girl groups, a clear testament to their broad fanbase and popular appeal. They also pointed to the group's substantial streaming numbers across various platforms. The fans called out these detractors, urging them to stop putting their idols in a negative light with such baseless claims and to refrain from such derogatory behavior.

Needless to say aside from the negativity online, both MAMAMOO and their fans are in extremely high spirits and invite everyone no matter your age, fandom, etc.

Everyone is heartily welcomed to join and enjoy the concert with them. Be it a dedicated Moomoo or a fan from another group showing support for MAMAMOO, even if you don't have a Moobong, rest assured that you will be embraced, respected, and appreciated at any of their performances.

If you want to grab a ticket while there is a few left for the last three shows, you can do this via TicketMaster.

What is your opinion on bringing other group's lightsticks to K-pop concerts? Is it ever understandable?

As if they're going to be horrible to anyone who goes to one of their gigs, honestly. Anyone who braves TicketMaster deserves to be treated like royalty.

.

I love the mental picture I have now of someone busy with a crochet hook making a little green radish cosy for their 'wrong colour' light stick though, lol.

.

Poor Red Velvet, they must be cringing when they hear of their "fans" antics online, that's so embarrassing. Why are the wrong colour sticks banned at their concerts? Would they be accepted if someone had made a cosy of the right colour?
