AKP STAFF

Cherry Bullet, a seven-member K-Pop girl group composed of Hae Yoon, Yu Ju, Bo Ra, Ji Won, Re Mi, Chae Rin, and May, is managed by FNC W. The group debuted with the single album 'Let's Play Cherry Bullet' on January 21, 2019. After a year since their last comeback, Cherry Bullet has now returned with a new album titled 'Cherry Dash.'

'Cherry Dash' serves as the group's third mini-album and tells the story of discovering one's unique sense of beauty without being swayed by the opinions of others. Members Hae Yoon and Bo Ra contributed their songwriting talents to the album's fifth track, "A Winter Star."

The mini-album consists of a total of five tracks, including "P.O.W! (Play On The World)," the title song, "Whistle Like That," "Cloud Nine," "Queen," and "A Winter Star." The title track is a pop dance song with dynamic growth and a superb experimental sound, displaying a classy and confident charm. The new song incorporated Cherry Bullet's daring concept of becoming the center of the universe, showcasing the band's vibrant energy and leaving a lasting impression.

To commemorate Cherry Bullet's long-awaited comeback, the members sat down with allkpop to dish on their latest album, the message they hope to convey with the record, their favorite tracks, the album they think represents Cherry Bullet the most, and more. Keep reading to know more about the septet!

allkpop: First of all, congratulations on your long-awaited comeback with 'Cherry Dash'! How does it feel to finally be able to come back and greet your fans with new music from Cherry Bullet?

HAE YOON: It’s been a year since our last comeback, we worked really hard preparing, and we were so excited to meet Lullets!! I want to make lots of happy memories with Lullets during this album promotion as well!

allkpop: It's been a year since your last comeback with 'Cherry Wish,' and now you're finally back with a new album! Please tell us how you spent your time during those 12 months and how you prepared for 'Cherry Dash.'

YU JU: One year was quite a long time, but we did not waste this time in vain! We did individual activities such as acting, participating in musicals, or practicing really hard by ourselves. Also, it's been a while since we prepared an album, so we were all excited about it.

allkpop: Could you please tell us more about what you want to convey with the new album 'Cherry Dash' and its tracks, including the title track "P.O.W! (Play On the World)"?

BO RA: Taking from the word 'Dash,' which means rushing and running, the title track contains Cherry Bullet's independent and confident image. We want to deliver a message that we should believe in inner maturity and beauty without being shaken by anyone's gaze and confidently take challenges with our own standards and perspectives.

allkpop: The album captures the resolve of taking on a challenge with confidence in oneself while not fearing other people’s opinions. If you could give a piece of advice to those who are still unsure of themselves and are wary of other people's opinions, what would it be?

JI WON: I wish everyone to be more confident because each person is precious and special.

You may be concerned about other people's thoughts, but why don’t you try to love yourself more so that you can have a strength that won’t be affected by that?

allkpop: "P.O.W! (Play On the World)" is such a great song. What were your thoughts and first impressions when you heard the title track "P.O.W! (Play On the World)" for the first time?

RE MI: When I first heard it, I thought many people would like it because the chorus part where the beat gets calm was cool and addictive!

allkpop: Among the five tracks from the album, which one would you recommend or is your favorite, and why?

CHAE RIN: It’s "A Winter Star"! It’s the first ballad song since our debut, and HAE YOON and BO RA participated in the lyrics, and each of the lyrics is so beautiful. Please listen to it~!

allkpop: Are there any fun and memorable scenes during the filming of the music video that you could share with us?

MAY: We had so much fun when shooting the scene where each of us walks down the runway. We posed and walked as if we were real models; all the members were so cute.

allkpop: Cherry Bullet recently commemorated its 4th anniversary - congratulations! How's your journey been so far as part of Cherry Bullet? Could you please tell us how you've grown as a member of the group since then?

MAY: I debuted at sixteen in Korean age, and surprisingly I became an adult this year! I also graduated high school!! Time flies so fast, and thanks to our members, fans, and everyone who helped us to do our best, I think we learned and grew up a lot.

allkpop: Since the members have been together for a few years now, we want all of you to shower compliments on each other! Could you pick member(s) and tell them how they have improved their skills and performance all throughout the four years of being a member of Cherry Bullet?

HAE YOON: Each member has grown a lot, but RE MI has really improved in performance. As she started to learn the genre of voguing, she performed freestyle voguing in "P.O.W! (Play On the World)" music video, and Lullets really liked it. She is a member who is very much expected to grow in the future!

allkpop: Among all the albums and songs you have released so far, which one do you think represents Cherry Bullet the most?

YU JU: These days, I'm meeting a lot of fans in Korea and abroad, and 'Love So Sweet' is the most popular song. I think it's because the concept and the style of the song fit us the best. So I think the song that represents us the most is "Love So Sweet" from the 'Cherry Rush' album.

allkpop: Are there any members who would like to choreograph or produce songs in the future, if given the opportunity to do so?

BO RA: I participated in [writing] lyrics for the first time, and I was really happy that many people liked it. It would be great if I could participate in producing in the future by trying my best!

allkpop: Cherry Bullet also has a lot of international fans and I know a lot have been waiting for you to come to their country. Do you have any plans on going overseas for a performance, a fan meeting, or perhaps a festival?

JI WON: First of all, we have a promotion in Japan in May, and I'm really looking forward to it! As our international fans are waiting for us, we’ll do our best to make a chance to meet them soon. We always thank you for waiting.

allkpop: If there is one thing you want Cherry Bullet to be remembered for, what would it be?

RE MI: I hope our stage could be memorable! I think that’s the moment we shine the most when we’re on stage!!

allkpop: Do you have any goals, be they personal or for your group, you have set that you would like to achieve this year or in the coming years? Please feel free to share it with us!

CHAE RIN: For this year, Cherry Bullet’s goal is to meet Lullets more often!!

allkpop: Lastly, please leave a message for all Lullets all over the world!

MAY: I want to say that I am always very grateful to Lullets who support us from afar and that gives us a lot of energy and strength! We’ll do our best to repay your support, so please look forward and continue to give Cherry Bullet a lot of love and support!

Bora and Haeyoon are the textbook definition of underrated. Produce48, Girls Planet 999, Girls Re:verse... they showed their talent over and over and got screwed every time. Kpop fans say they want idols who can sing but all they really care about is who debuted under the companies with the most money.

Cherry Bullet needs to make its way overseas and grow its fandom,or they'll disappear. They don't have the potential of AOA, but if FNC manages them well, creating witty content on youtube, organizing concerts abroad and producing better music in the next comeback, CB could achieve the success of Dreamcatcher and Kard. Let's be honest, 'POW' isn't exciting and, imho, it has some problems in its construction. The previous songs were great though.
