Contestants from ‘My Teenage Boy: Fantasy Boys’ that previously competed on other prominent South Korean survival shows

‘My Teenage Boy: Fantasy Boys’ is a reality survival show that premiered on MBC on March 30, 2023. The show is a male adaptation of the girl group survival show ‘My Teenage Girl,’ which eventually formed the rookie K-pop girl group CLASS:y.

The show has 55 contestants competing for a coveted slot in the new boy group. Prior to this, some of the contestants participated in other well-known South Korean survival shows. Let's have a look at those participants.

1. Kang Dae-Hyeon: The Origin – A, B, or What?

    ‘Fantasy Boys’ Kang Dae-Hyeon, had previously taken part in ‘The Origin – A, B, or What?’ but was eliminated from the show in its second episode as a result of being on the losing team and being voted off by the judges. The show was produced jointly by Kakao Entertainment and Sony Music Solutions and led to the formation of the K-pop group ATBO. The program aired on MBN, Kakao Tv, and 1thek in 2022.

    2. Hyun-woo, Dae-hui, and Hyeok-jun: LOUD

    ‘LOUD’ was a South Korean survival show that was produced in collaboration with J.Y. Park and PSY with the goal of creating two global boy groups. The program aired on SBS in 2021. The top six contenders, chosen by P NATION, debuted as TNX last year.

    A total of three Contestants from ‘Fantasy Boys’ previously competed on ‘LOUD.’

    Kang Hyun-woo competed on ‘LOUD,’ though he met an unfortunate fate, being eliminated in the sixth round of the program.

    Another contestant from ‘Fantasy Boys,’ Kim Dae-hui, participated in ‘LOUD’ too. However, he didn't make it past the second round.

    Moon Hyeok-jun, a participant in ‘Fantasy Boys,’ also participated in ‘LOUD.’ Unfortunately, he also faced elimination in the third round.

    3. Moon Hyun-bin: Produce X 101

      Leader of Ciipher Moon Hyun-bin is currently competing on ‘Fantasy Boys.’ In 2019 he participated in ‘Produce X 101’ but was eliminated in the eighth episode after placing 32nd in the rankings. It is the fourth season of the Mnet ‘Produce 101’ series, which was a large-scale project that involves the public in selecting debuting members from a pool of 101 contestants.

      4. Ha Seok-hee, and Park Min-geun: Stars Awakening

        Two of the “Fantasy Boys” contestants, Park Min-Geun and Ha Seok-hee, previously competed on the reality survival program ‘Stars Awakening’ in 2022. The show was a collaborative effort between Channel A and ABEMA and aired last year. 'Stars Awakening' led to the formation of the boy group n.SSign.

        5. Tae-seon: Peak Time

          Tae Seon, a former member of TRCNG, is presently competing on ‘Fantasy Boys.’ He had also taken part in the survival show ‘Peak Time,’ but was eliminated in the Survival round. The show offered a platform to lesser-known musical groups affected by hiatus, the pandemic, and other circumstances.

          6. Choi Min-seo: CAP-TEEN

            Choi Min-seo, a participant in the ‘Fantasy Boys,’ has prior experience competing on ‘CAP-TEEN,’ which was a teen reality survival show produced by CJ ENM and aired on Mnet. It featured young male and female trainees between the ages of 11-19.

            7. Bae Seung-yoon: Be Mbitious

              Bae Seung-yoon from ‘Fantasy Boys’ had earlier taken part in the dance survival show "Be Ambitious," which was aired on Mnet in 2022. The show aimed to create a male dance crew to compete on the popular dance program ‘Street Man Fighter.’
