An Eye for an Eye: 8 Must-Watch K-Dramas About Revenge

The first quarter of 2023 has been a true delight for K-drama enthusiasts, with many gripping new shows hitting the screens and leaving audiences clamoring for more. From steamy romances to pulse-pounding thrillers, there's been something for everyone to sink their teeth into. But as the year marches on, fans eagerly anticipate the next wave of exciting releases.


And speaking of binge-watching, there's no better time to indulge in the guilty pleasure of a good revenge drama. Thanks to the runaway success of "The Glory," viewers are craving more tales of vengeance and justice, and there are plenty of shows out there to satisfy their bloodlust. So why not add some extra spice to your watch list with these must-see revenge dramas that will leave you on the edge of your seat?

"The Glory"

The story revolves around Moon Dong Eun (Song Hye Kyo), who was a homeroom teacher of Class 1-2 of Semyeong Elementary School. She endured regular physical and psychological assaults from Yeon Jin (Lim Ji Yeon) and her friends while she was a student in high school. After ultimately dropping out of school and taking up a job as a homeroom teacher at the elementary school of her bully's child, she set in motion a complex scheme of retaliation against Yeon Jin and her friends.

"Taxi Driver"

Kim Do Gi (Lee Je Hoon), a graduate of the Korea Military Academy and former 707th Special Mission Group captain, had his mother killed when he was a little child. He now drives a taxi for Rainbow Taxi Company, an organization that provides a "revenge call" to those who use its services and have experienced wrongdoings. He aids them in seeking retribution because he could not seek vengeance on the person who killed his mother.

"Itaewon Class"

When he was younger, Park Sae Ro Yi (Park Seo Joon) was expelled from high school for hitting CEO Jang's son, Jang Geun Won (Ahn Bo Hyun), after he saw him bullying a classmate. Later, Sae Ro Yi lost his father due to Geun Won's careless driving and assaults Geun Won out of frustration over the death of his father, which earns him a three-year sentence. Seven years after being freed from prison, Sae Ro Yi follows in his dad's footsteps and starts a bar-restaurant named DanBam in Itaewon to turn it into a franchise and take revenge by defeating CEO Jang's food company Jangga Group.

"Eve"

Lee La El (Seo Ye Ji) is a child of a brilliant scientist, and her father's murder thirteen years ago devastated her blissful family life. In order to exact her 13-year-long vengeance, she first set her sights on Kang Yoon Gyeom (Park Byung Eun), who was among the key perpetrators of her father's murder. However, she began to fall in love with Yoon Gyeom, and as a result, she struggled to reconcile her need for vengeance with her feelings for him.

"My Name"

Yoon Ji Woo (Han So Hee) sees her father's horrifying demise during her birthday. She embarks on a mission to identify his murderer, determined to get revenge at all costs. She joins an organized crime group and works disguised as a policewoman on the orders of Choi Moo Jin (Park Hee Soon), the head of the largest drug network in Korea, whose underlying motives are difficult to discern. She then meets Jeon Pil Do (Ahn Bo Hyun), a detective of Inchang Metropolitan Police Agency's Narcotics unit, who became her partner after joining the unit.

"Lawless Lawyer"

Former gangster converted lawyer Sang Pil (Lee Joon Gi) fights against those who possess total authority in order to exact revenge for his mother, who was murdered. He frequently turns to physical violence and legal technicalities and loopholes to further his agenda. Ha Jae Yi (Seo Ye Ji), an attorney of outstanding character, was disbarred after verbally assaulting a judge, leading to her meeting Sang Pil, who offered her an opportunity to regain her license. Together, they seek justice against the dishonest judge Cha Moon Sook (Lee Hye Young) and her cronies through the legal system.

"Revenge of Others"

Ok Chan Mi (Shin Ye Eun), a shooting champion, doesn't really think that her twin brother, killed himself. When the police are wrapping up the investigation, Chan Mi transfers to Yong Tan High School, her brother's school, in order to find her brother's killer. She encounters and becomes connected with Ji Soo Heon (Park Solomon), a boy who has seen a lot of hardships in life and who likewise wants justice, albeit in a difficult way, by assisting bullied pupils in taking revenge on their bullies by assaulting the bullies and getting paid for it. Together, while mindful of the danger, they strive to get revenge on the wrongdoers. 

"Call it Love"

When Shim Woo Joo (Lee Sung Kyung) finds out all about her father's affair, her life takes a turn for the worse and reaches rock bottom. She is then evicted from her family's home by her father's mistress when he passes away. Woo Joo intends to exact revenge, but she ends up falling in love with Han Dong Jin (Kim Young Kwang), the son of her late father's mistress.

i love call it love. my fav drama thats ongoing atm. resurrection is also one of the best revenge kdramas. a little old but still great.
