Dongyo Entertainment addresses DKZ Kyoungyoon Family's alleged ties to the JMS Cult

AKP STAFF

DKZ's agency Dongyo Entertainment released an official statement regarding member Kyoungyoon's family being part of the infamous JMS cult.

Recently, Netflix released a documentary titled 'In the Name of God, A Holy Betrayal, ' exposing the truth behind Providence, better known as JMS, and the crimes of its founder Jung Myung Seok.

After the Netflix documentary aired, there were rumors that Kyoungyoon's parents were part of the cult and were running a cafe in relation to the religious organization. On March 7, Dongyo Entertainment confirmed that Kyoungyoon's parents were part of the church but had cut ties after discovering the truth.

Dongyo Entertainment stated, "In regards to the business run by Kyoungyoon's family, which is being mentioned in social media and web portals, Kyoung Yoon himself checked with his family. Kyoungyoon stated that his parents thought it was a regular church until they received information from others and checked the broadcast about the specific organization. They stated they never encountered or experienced any incident related to the broadcast nor were they aware of them."

The agency continued, "As soon as they, including Kyoungyoon, found out the truth today, they were horrified. His parents stopped the business immediately. At the same time, they checked all parts related to the specific organization and cut ties. They have clarified that there will be no further relationship (with the organization)."

Finally, Dongyo Entertainment concluded, "He apologizes for not properly doing due diligence in being more thorough about the thing related to himself when he has an occupation that received love from many people. Ignorance cannot be an excuse, but he had no intention to act in a way to benefit that specific organization or to cover up the truth behind the crimes. Therefore, we ask that everyone refrains from the exaggerated speculations or mentions."

That's on his parents though and not on him. It's not like he was part of that church as well.

I thought JMS was pretty infamous within Korea. The leader was arrested in 2008 and spent 10 years in jail. It's weird that people still wouldn't know who he is and what he was accused of. There were/are people in the church who didn't believe the accusations, but I feel like everyone would have heard about the accusations before the recent Netflix documentary
