Seventeen's Hoshi warms the hearts of K-Pop fans with his comment during his live stream

Seventeen's Hoshi warmed the hearts of K-Pop fans with his comment during his live stream.

On February 4th, Hoshi held his V Live and his comment during the stream caught K-Pop fans' attention. Hoshi commented, "I realized not everyone can stan. I know it'll sound funny when I say carats are amazing but you have to buy tickets, apply for fan sign, buy albums, merch, membership, and much more. It's not easy. We also have to shoot seasons' greetings and merchandise, and even we say it feels like we're making too much."

He continued, "But we are required to do some things our label asks to do and I know I'm receiving a portion of what you're paying so I know this may sound odd... I'm sorry. You don't have to buy everything because I understand how much carats love us. I'm always grateful. Now that I've been doing this for a while, I want our relationship to become more personable. Not just a fan to a celebrity relationship but person to person. I think a lot about how I'd like to have a more warm, personable relationship between us."

K-Pop fans reacted: "I'm envious of that fandom...It's really touching to see idols who really think about their fans."

"I like any celebrity who is considerate of their fans."

"I'm stanning a different group but he is so right. I don't think a paid subscription to keep communicating with your idol is a healthy system."

"He is sweet. I feel comforted even I'm not stanning him."

"As a fan, I'm buying things for my own pleasure but it really is thoughtful of him to say that monetizing all content feels somewhat detached."

"His being hesitant about his comment because he is earning money from fans' spending made the comment feel even more genuine."

"Even if he is just saying that I'm a firm believer there is a difference between a person who knows not to take fans' support for granted and the one who doesn't."

I'm happy he said this out loud. I know it's kind of taken for granted by older fans like myself, but i also know younger fans might feel pressured to "support" the group by buying this stuff. I believe having something like this from the idol himself will help. Only buy what you want, and only if its worth your money!!!!!

This made me weirdly emotional. I've been following Seventeen since 2016 and they are the light of my life. I can with 100% certainty say that I wouldn't be alive right now if it weren't for them. Their music saved my life during my darkest moments.

I've never been able to buy albums or such up until recently and I have bought just a few Seventeen albums. They are my most treasured possessions, but I have never felt pressured to buy them. I know being a fan is different for everyone but for me, the genuine love that I have for Seventeen goes beyond buying albums or merch.

I am incredibly thankful that they are still together and still make music and hearing Hoshi say stuff like this, how he genuinely love carats too and don't just see us as a way to make money is very heartwarming. I think there should definitely be a divide between idol and fan, but I feel like with some idols or especially their companies, fans are just treated as money and the idol as a product. And sure, that's the formula and reality of any money-making industry, but I love how Seventeen always treat carats with respect.

It's so hard to describe but I feel that within this fandom there is a widespread mutual respect towards eachother and towards the members. Although I'm sure it's like that in other kpop fandoms too I can't speak for them because I don't consider myself a part of any other fandoms. But from past experiences with other fandoms there has always been this internal rivalry about buying products or spending all your time on your faves. I see that on twitter with Seventeen too but I feel like it's way more relaxed amongst carats, it's more like "show your love to seventeen but if you don't have the time/energy then it's fine," and I think that's great.

Despite how much I love Seventeen (I usually say they take up about 50% of my heart space) I don't have the time or will to stream stuff just for the sake of streaming or buying albums just to raise album sales. If I like a song/album I will stream it/may buy it but only for my own enjoyment because I like it so much lol, and the relaxed approach to this amongst carats and from the Seventeen members allow me to do so. Another example is when The8 said in his birthday livestream that people should just print his pictures instead of mass buying albums to get his photocard.

-

Anyway, getting reassurance that Hoshi knows how much Carats appreciate him makes me feel so happy and seen and I love him. Can't wait for BSS' comeback, I think I'm gonna buy the album but not because I feel pressured to do so - but because I'm currently making a little Seventeen "shrine" with their discography for my own little enjoyment to look at whenever I feel down.
