Jimin is quite popular in Japan. He receives lots of love and support for his exceptional skills as a vocalist and dancer, for his charming and warm personality, and for his breathtaking beauty. His popularity is over the roof, as seen from the sales performance of his individual GQ Magazine cover a few months ago, where he was the only member whose cover ranked among the popular covers (highest selling) on Yahoo Japan's official store, even surpassing the popularity of the group cover and staying as the only cover on this ranking for several days. 

This hot popularity is reflected by the number of prominent personalities in the country who have voiced out their love and admiration for Jimin in many ways, some even saying they are specifically studying him as a way to improve themselves. The legendary ice skater Yuzuru Hanyu stated in an interview that he is studying Jimin's dance to improve his own performance while on ice, highlighting Jimin's much cooler and relaxed movements compared to his, with his flexibility and slender body as the reasons why he is captivated by Jimin's dance. Other top athletes who have shown their love for Jimin include softball gold medalist Miu Goto and artistic gymnast and a medalist in the 2020 Olympics and other events in previous years, Mai Murakami, to name a few [read here]. For athletes such as Yuzuru's status to pay such keen attention to Jimin, it speaks to how good a performer Jimin is and how loved and respected he is in the country. Among other noticeable Japanese heavyweights who have praised Jimin include Go Shiozaki, a wrestler and reigning Global Honored Crown heavyweight champion, Kiriko Isono, a comedian, actor, and TV show host and Ayaka Hirahara, a singer and songwriter, among many others.

Jimin's popularity in Japan is especially prominent in matters of dance and performing. A survey held by Netlab, a Japanese website, for the 'Best Male Idol Dancer in K-pop 2022' had Jimin emerging as the winner out of the 28 contestants for the title, with 33% of the votes. This becomes the second consecutive year that Jimin has won this title in this same survey, showing that his enviable position and status among the Japanese netizens remain unshaken.

He had previously won this same survey for 'Best Dancer in K-pop' in 2021 with 16.3% of the votes, and this survey also consisted of 28 participants. Going by these results in comparison with the 2022 results, it shows that his popularity is, in fact, growing even more.

Jimin was also previously picked as the Best Korean Dancer and 3rd overall dancer by Japanese high school dance club students, the Wannabe dance group. This was in 2018, showing that the Japanese recognized his talent and got to love him from many years back. In addition, he gained recognition as a representative figure for Korea when he was selected as a role model for Japan's 15-21-year-old female students back in March of 2021. From students to athletes, media personalities, and netizens, Jimin is constantly being selected or mentioned as the 'number one pick,' be it in dancing, singing, or personality, among other topics. This wave of affection from Japanese nationals towards him, especially for his dancing, has consistently grown through the years and is evidently not going to stop in the near future.
