Seungri (Lee Seung Hyun), who was sentenced to one year and six months in prison for solicitation of illegal prostitution and overseas gambling, will be transferred to a civilian prison as he will be discharged from the military on the 9th. Seungri is scheduled to be released from prison in February of 2023.

On June 8, according to the military authorities, Seungri, who was imprisoned in a military prison, will be discharged on June 9 and transferred to Yeoju Prison.

Yeoju Prison is a civilian prison located close to the military prison in Icheon City, Gyeonggi Province.

Earlier, the first division of the Supreme Court sentenced Seungri, who was indicted on the 26th of last month, on charges of habitual gambling and violation of the Prostitution Punishment Act (mediating prostitution, illegal filming of sexual content, etc.). Seungri was sentenced to a year and six months in prison.

According to the Military Service Act, if a soldier is sentenced to one year and six months in prison or imprisonment without prison labor, they must be transferred to the wartime labor service.

The general military court sentenced Seungri to three years in prison and arrested him during the first trial. However, the High Military Court upheld the conviction and reduced the sentence to one year and six months in prison during the appeals trial.

Seungri was originally scheduled to be discharged from the military service in September last year, after being sentenced in the first trial. However, he was placed on hold from discharge under the Military Service Act and was subsequently tried in a higher court as a soldier. Therefore, Seungri will only be serving time in the civilian prison until February of next year.

Currently, many netizens are angered as Seungri will be released after just 8 more months in prison. Netizens commented, "How can this be a proper country? This kind of guy needs to be in prison until 2323," "One year and six months is just the right amount of time for him to cool his head...This sentencing is a joke," "He still earned so much money that he won't be able to spend it in his whole lifetime," "I know an ordinary person won't be able to do what he did, but if an ordinary person did that, they would be in prison for ten years," "His sentencing his so light compared to what he did," "His sentencing is so short," and "This country is such a good place for criminals to live in."

Don't know why they're angry.

• The charges for cheating on his taxes years after he'd already paid up (what was owed + fines)

• The embezzlement conviction - despite he'd long paid that back as well

• Introducing the prostitution service he used to his business financiers 🙄 how long ago, 2017?

All that was thrown in just so they could impose a longer sentence on him for gambling in (legal) casinos in other countries way back in 2013-2017.

Although I think he's been and being overly punished, considering their laws, despite them being 𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙮 and 𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙡𝙮 applied, it's a fair sentencing. But I wonder if it's fair or necessary to imprison someone after five years or longer for activities they'd already corrected especially when there were NO VICTIMS.

When he did those things, he was how old, early 20s? The average age of NCT members. Sowing his wild and youthful oats, learning and growing. And still had already established multiple businesses. How many of them who are spewing their hatred created hundreds of jobs for others -- in their early 20s at that?

Yes, he's disgraced since his misdeeds have been made public. But still I can't help but respect the man for realizing he was marginally talented as a pop music performer and getting his hustle on -- his life after plan.
